There’s a lot of talk these days about the power of mindset in business. But what about emotions? How do they play into success or failure?
Just as a plant needs sunlight and water to thrive, so too do we need a positive mindset to achieve our goals. However, it is important to remember that emotions are the root of our mindset.
Emotionset is more powerful than mindset. Because no matter how positive our thoughts may be, if our emotions are negative, our mindset will suffer.
What is Emotionset?
Emotionset is a term that I came up with to describe the way our emotions affect our daily lives, our decisions (or indecisions, and ultimately play a huge role in our success and happiness as entrepreneurs.
See, our emotions give us information, and if we can become attuned to them, we can use that information to help guide our lives. However, often our emotions are running on autopilot, influenced by past programming and conditioning. In order to become emotionally empowered, we need to become aware of these programs and start working with them. By becoming attuned to our emotions, we can start to make choices that are in alignment with our deepest desires and begin to create the lives we want to live – happy, fulfilled, and thriving.
The Stories it Creates:
We all have a story. It’s the story we tell ourselves about who we are, where we come from, and what we’re capable of. Those stories are crafted subconsciously by our emotions.
Unfortunately, too often these stories are based on our fears and doubts instead of our strengths and possibilities. As a result, we end up living in a self-imposed prison.
By choosing to not engage with the negative narratives we’ve been telling ourselves, we can clear the way for a new story. One guided by acknowledging our emotions without letting them dictate how the next chapter will look. So don’t be afraid to let go of the old stories that are holding you back. It’s time to write a new chapter in your life – one that will lead to a happier, more successful future.
How this Affects Entrepreneurs:
As entrepreneurs, we are high achievers. And as high-achievers, we often believe that we need to push ourselves in order to be successful. We think that we need to work harder and longer hours in order to get ahead. This comes from the stories we’ve been told our entire lives. The stories of how hard work=success. Somewhere along the line, the idea of working 60-80 hour weeks became a symbol of success. However, this way of thinking typically leads to burnout, frustration, and a sense of unfulfillment.
Instead of pushing ourselves, we need to focus on finding fulfillment in our work. This means doing things that make us feel good and that we’re passionate about. When we’re fulfilled, we’ll naturally be more productive and successful.
A huge part of emotionset is the ability to go from “this happened to me” to “I choose for this to happen.” When we do this, we regain our power by allowing our feelings, actions and results to be driven by internal power rather than external factors.
When we learn to self-regulate, we become much better off. We are able to find fulfillment in our own accomplishments Next time you find yourself seeking validation from others, take a step back and ask yourself if it’s really worth it. You may be surprised at the answer.
Mastering Emotionset. Finding the Truth.
Once we see the truth about who we are and what we’re capable of, a huge amount of energy is returned to us. We suddenly have the power to create our lives exactly as we want them to be. We no longer have to settle for anything less than fulfillment and success.
And best of all, when we start calling our power back, the universe responds. We are given even more energy to work with, which we can use to further heal and improve our lives.
One of the things that I love about my work is watching my clients have huge breakthroughs around their emotions. When they start to really understand and work with their emotions, they see such amazing results in their lives. They become more successful, more fulfilled, and they just feel better overall. It’s insanely powerful.
When we learn how to work with our emotions in a healthy way, everything can change. We create more profit, more sales, better relationships with our family, better relationships with our teams, and better relationships with ourselves. When you figure out what is going on at the root – that being the way your emotions affect your mindset, actions, and decisions – you can finally create the life you want, instead of living at the mercy of your emotions.
